The 17 Day Diet: Cleansing Vegetables

Today probably marks the 1st official day of The 17 Day Diet for me. Although I have been on it for 3 days, only 1 out of the 3 days did I have enough “appropriate food” to follow the diet to the tee (although we always have fruits and veggies for the kids, I didn’t have enough for myself to sustain eating salads/veggies daily). Well, yesterday we went to Sam’s Club and Publix and purchased a bunch of vegetables, fruit, green tea, and yogurt to get me through cycle 1 of The 17 Day Diet.

Part 1 of The 17 Day Diet is more about getting you accustomed to not eat sugary or high carbohydrate foods. A cleansing period is required, which is why Dr. Mike Moreno suggests the cleansing vegetables. Below are a few of the vegetables that is suggested to eat during cycle 1 (accelerate):

Cauliflower

Cabbage

Broccoli

Brussel Sprouts

Spinach

Tomatoes

I highly recommend you to go ahead and purchase this book to see for yourself the approach The 17 Day Diet takes. Remember, this is not just a diet, but a lifestyle. Although cycle 1 is the most aggressive of the cycles. It is designed that way to cleanse you and to help give you a weight loss boost immediately to keep you motivated- which is all psychological (very much like the Snowball Effect that Dave Ramsey recommends in regards to paying off bills).

My weigh in this morning was no different from yesterday. I “maintained”. I am not disappointed considering I have not followed it exactly, and I definitely snuck in some high carbohydrate foods yesterday to get me through the day. Well, no more! Off to having NO pizza, chocolate, or pasta for 17 days. Oh, I did forget to mention that on holidays, I do not diet. With this diet or with Weight Watchers, I did not follow the rules for that one day. Yes, I watch what I eat and eat bad foods in moderation. I don’t sit there and overstuff myself. However, one holiday is not going to make a enough difference to whether I lose or gain weight.
